Making
the Business Case for Nursing: Justifying Investments in Nurse Staffing and
High-Quality Practice Environments.”
It makes
recommendations for untangling the inputs and outputs of nursing education and
service; providing the data necessary to make responsible decisions about
resource allocation; communicating with non-nurse healthcare leaders;
articulating the consequences of making and not making certain investments to
multiple stakeholders; and drawing upon objective data or opinions and
statements of values.
All things being equal, very low staffing levels should probably be addressed before other elements.
